O Salgueiro contará na Avenida no Carnaval 2020 a história de Benjamin de Oliveira, o primeiro palhaço negro do Brasil. Para apresentar ao público esse personagem passará pela história do circo. Afim de mostrar ao público e jurados toda a magia e encanto circense contará com a ajuda de um dos maiores profissionais da área, Marcos Frota, ator e trapezista que está há 25 anos à frente da Universidade Livre do Circo (Unicirco).

“Já fiz alguns carnavais de circo aí país a fora, mas nunca estive tão cuidadosamente envolvido, empenhado e apaixonado como estou agora, pelo Salgueiro. Estou em casa”, garante o idealizador da Unicirco.

O carnavalesco Alex de Souza foi quem teve a ideia de apresentar o projeto do enredo para Marcos, para isso contou com a ajuda do diretor de carnaval Alexandre Couto.

“O Alex e o Alexandre me consultaram pra ver se eu gostaria de ver o projeto. Aí vim conhecer e falei: “Tá legal!”. A escola está bacana, está leve e é importante porque o carnaval precisa disso também, de leveza, tá tudo tão áspero já, tão intolerante… O circo tem esse combustível que é a alegria. Estou muito esperançoso. Acho que o Salgueiro vai dar um recado especial”, aponta Frota.

O trio já teve três encontros, o bastante para Marcos identificar que a escola está no caminho certo.

“O Salgueiro está numa atmosfera muito boa, está leve. Isso é bom porque se essa leveza vai pra Avenida, junta quem faz com quem assiste, independente da verba, do conteúdo. O Alex está muito pé no chão. Ele não está extrapolando. Está construindo um enredo artístico. O carnaval do Rio é um grande espetáculo e acho que a plateia vai ser presenteada com um carnaval feito nos detalhes pra contar uma história. Aliado a isso, espero que Xangô, que é o padroeiro da escola ajude a escolher um samba bem bonito e que a escola cante. Porque aí vai juntar isso tudo e vai ser incrível”, acredita.

Em entrevista ao site CARNAVALESCO, Marcos Frota adiantou que já vai começar a escolha de 53 artistas de circo, vindos do projeto Unicirco, para somar ao trabalho da escola.

“A gente vai envolver quem gosta de circo,quem faz circo, quem quer ser de circo e claro, contribuir da melhor forma possível. Quero que o Alex veja no nosso material humano as possibilidades que ele tem para carro Abre-Alas, pra chão, pra o que quiser! – adianta o ator, que não esconde a felicidade em poder participar de um enredo que traz de volta toda a importância e magia do circo.

– O grande homenageado é o Benjamin de Oliveira, um cara que simboliza a resistência que o circo tem. Essa teimosia, essa perseverança. É por isso que o circo rompe a barreira do tempo. Hoje, em plena era da tecnologia, o mundo inteiro em polvoroso em meio as transformações climáticas e estar aí ainda, firme e forte. O circo pertence ao imaginário da criança, então quando ele encontra um espaço de celebração como é uma escola de samba, a gente só pode agradecer aos deuses.
