Rafaela Theodoro, primeira porta-bandeira da Imperatriz Leopoldinense, desde 2011, completa neste ano seu décimo carnaval defendendo o pavilhão da agremiação. Rafaela saiu do cargo de segunda porta-bandeira da Vila Isabel e foi direto defender o pavilhão de uma das escolas mais tradicionais do carnaval carioca, que por muitos anos teve como defensora uma das maiores da história: Maria Helena.

Para Rafaela, defender a escola tem um peso a mais por defender um pavilhão que por 22 anos ininterruptos foi de Maria Helena. Ela brinca e dizendo que não sabe o que se passou na cabeça do presidente Luiz Pacheco Drummond, o Luizinho Drummond, de confiar um cargo de tanta responsabilidade para uma menina de apenas 18 anos, idade em que chegou a escola.

“É uma responsabilidade muito grande porém maior do que defender um pavilhão durante um período longo de 10 carnavais é defender o pavilhão que foi de Maria Helena, uma porta-bandeira única e que defendeu a Imperatriz com maestria por muitas décadas dando resultados para escola. É uma responsabilidade enorme pois a Imperatriz é uma escola grande e que tem história. Não é uma tarefa fácil, entrei aqui com 18 anos, uma garota ainda e até hoje eu brinco perguntando onde é que o Luizinho estava com a cabeça de
trazer uma menina tão nova e sem experiência, que até então eu não tinha, somente duas desfiles como segunda porta-bandeira da Vila Isabel. Foi uma grande surpresa mas jamais me intimidei, ergui a bandeira com toda garra e amor para honrar o pavilhão da Imperatriz que é tão respeitado no carnaval”.

O casal de mestre-sala e porta-bandeira é um dos quesitos mais tradicionais e importantes do carnaval. Indo contra a comercialização da festa, Rafaela explica que é a favor de criar identificação com escola e com o mestre-sala, sem pular de uma agremiação para outra.

“Eu gosto de ter a referência de casal, a identidade com a escola. É bacana ter a referência da Rafaela como porta-bandeira da Imperatriz. O carnaval se comercializou muito e acaba fazendo com que a identidade se perca. Por mais que você tenha sua característica de dança e de postura, cada escola tem a sua particularidade, tradição e quando não se cria essa identidade, você acaba não tendo a sua própria. Eu já estive oportunidade de estar fora da Imperatriz mas fiquei por esse ambiente familiar, por essa escola acolhedora e que sou grata pela confiança que me deram. Deixei de ser uma promessa para me tornar uma realidade. Ver hoje que sou uma referência da escola, ter meninas que começaram ou que as que eu vi crescer e agora se espelham em mim é gratificante”.

Cada ano para uma porta-bandeira é um ano especial e diferente. Nesses dez carnavais empunhando o pavilhão da Imperatriz, Rafaela destaca três que a marcaram mais. Os anos de 2011, sua estreia; 2014, ano em que conquistou as notas máximas; e o ano de 2018, ano em que teve Maria Helena, praticamente, apresentando o casal com Chiquinho.

“É difícil escolher um desfile e uma fantasia, cada ano é especial, cada ano é mágico e cada ano tem um significado. O ano de 2011, que foi minha estreia como primeira porta-bandeira foi bem especial. O ano de 2014, que foi o ano do Zico, foi quando conquistei a nota máxima e ganhamos praticamente todos os prêmios do carnaval. Foi marcante. Não posso esquecer de 2018, o ano do Museu Nacional, que tive o prazer de ter ali pertinho a Maria Helena me apresentando. Eu não tenho dúvidas que 2020 será um grande ano, pelo
momento que vive a escola, pelo resgate e a busca para levar a escola ao Grupo Especial, além de completar 10 carnavais”.

Dançando com Rafaela desde o carnaval de 2017, Thiaguinho Almeida explica que pode contar com a sua parceira para além da dança e se sente honrado por ter uma porta bandeira experiente ao seu lado.

“Para mim é uma honra, uma glória ter uma porta-bandeira experiente, que fecha com o mestre-sala. Não é só dança, é parceria. Por mais que a gente encontre dificuldades no caminho, a parceria tem que vencer em todo momento. Me sinto honrado em ter alguém que jogue junto comigo”.

Sobre a relação com a maior porta-bandeira da história da Imperatriz, Rafaela diz que soube cativa o jeito difícil de Maria Helena e que ouve todos os seus toques e dicas.

“Desde a primeira vez que pisei nessa quadra a primeira pessoa que me direcionei foi a Maria Helena. Ela é uma porta-bandeira única, fez história na Imperatriz e no carnaval. Ela é uma referência e merece um grande respeito do casal. Todo domingo chego na quadra e vou falar com ela. Ouço seus toques, suas dicas, busco colocar dentro da minha dança e da minha postura algo dela. Não vou ser igual a Maria Helena mas tenho essa admiração. É uma honra entregar meu pavilhão para Maria Helena dançar. Ela não é uma pessoa fácil
mas graças a Deus cai em suas graças. Soube chegar e cativar, sempre com respeito”.

Thiaguinho disse que existe uma pressão maior para este carnaval por conta do peso e da história da Imperatriz, que tem a pressão de estar no topo.

“Eu acredito exista uma pressão pois a Imperatriz é uma escola de Grupo Especial, por toda sua grandeza e história. Como todos os anos temos a pressão de estar no topo mas em 2020 muito mais que os outros. Os profissionais da escola estão trabalhando firme e eu acredito que voltaremos ao Especial”.

Sobre a fantasia do próximo desfile, o casal diz estar ansioso para o público ver a fantasia desenhada pelo carnavalesco Leandro Vieira. Rafaela chama atenção para o cuidado que o artista tem com o bem estar e a dança do casal, fazendo uma fantasia que não atrapalha e ainda valoriza os dois.

“Estava ansiosa quando o Leandro veio para cá, já tinha tido a experiência com o Leandro em 2014 porque ele tinha sido o figurinista da nossa escola junto com o Cahê. Eu não esperava menos dele, não podemos falar grandes detalhes da fantasia mas ele pensa muito nas cores e na dança do casal. Não adianta ter uma roupa deslumbrante mas não executar e o Leandro pensa nisso, tem esse diferencial. Ele nos chamou antes de fazer a roupa, perguntou o que a gente gosta e quando apresentou a fantasia deu a liberdade para
opinarmos se teria algo que quiséssemos mudar”.

Se preparando para alcançar a nota máxima e ajudar a escola voltar ao Grupo Especial, Thiaguinho explica que os dois ensaiam durante todos os dias da semana e que para ele não muda dançar no Especial ou na Série A.

“Nossa preparação está exaustiva, ensaiamos todos os dias, finais de semana sempre temos alguma apresentação, domingo ensaio aqui na quadra. Mas é muito gostoso, pensamos a coreografia juntos. Para mim não muda dançar no Especial ou na Série A, passei pelo grupo e tenho lembranças de carnavais maravilhosos com a Renascer de Jacarepaguá. Para o Thiaguinho não muda mas para o mestre-sala sim pois é uma outra visão, o jurado olha com um outro olhar, a forma de avaliação é diferente. Se pararmos para analisar as técnicas usadas nos grupos são diferentes, essa sim é a verdadeira mudança e estamos estudando e nos adaptando para isso”.
