A contratação de Paulo Barros era um desejo da direção da Vila Isabel. A confiança na criatividade do artista foi fundamental para o acerto. Ele deve desenvolver um enredo autoral para o carnaval do ano que vem.

Em 2020, Paulo Barros foi o responsável pelo desfile do Tuiuti. A escola de São Cristóvão terminou na 11ª colocação. A Vila Isabel homenageando Martinho da Vila ficou no quarto lugar.

Além da chegada de Paulo Barros, a direção da Vila Isabel acertou as seguintes renovações: intérprete Tinga, mestre Macaco Branco, Moisés Carvalho (direção de carnaval), e do casal de mestre-sala e porta-bandeira, Marcinho e Cris Caldas.
