O lado é definido da seguinte forma: as escolas sorteadas nas posições pares em cada dia se concentram do lado do edifício Balança Mas Não Cai, próximo à estação Central do Brasil do metrô. As escolas que desfilam nas posições ímpares se concentram do lado oposto, próximo ao prédio dos Correios, mais perto da estação Praça Onze do metrô.

Para o diretor de carnaval da Beija-Flor, Dudu Azevedo, o lado de concentração pode não ser decisivo, mas ele influencia a estratégia de desfile de cada agremiação. O dirigente aponta que prefere ficar do lado dos Correios. Dudu aponta os casos de assalto como um fator prejudicial no lado do Balança e ainda avalia que fechar o carnaval também tem influência no projeto.

O cronograma é alterado devido à iluminação, assim como o projeto e a estratégia são influenciados”, destaca.

Para Júnior Escafura, da Portela, a definição do lado de concentração é um fator decisivo na construção do projeto da escola. Ele pondera, ainda, que desfilar no domingo é prejudicial pois os jurados acessam informações que podem influenciar na hora de aplicar as notas para as escolas da primeira noite.
